Kevin has been working in the snow resort industry for over 34 years, with experience focusing primarily on outside operations, management and strategic planning.
As Director of Risk Management at Gougeon Insurance, Kevin offers his experience to assist Gougeon’ resort clients with best practices and loss control. Kevin has also held the position of General Manager for Leitner Poma Canada East and Area Manager for The Georgian Peaks Club.
A graduate of the Humber College Ski Area Operations Programme, Kevin has stayed involved in the industry by assisting in the development and teaching of various courses at Selkirk, Humber andGeorgianColleges.
He has worked extensively with the Ontario Snow Resorts Association (OSRA), including sitting on the OSRA Board, Risk Management Committee, Events Committee, and has supported many educational and training initiatives with lifts, snowmaking , ParkScapers, and most recently taking a lead role at bring the improved Accident Analyzer program to a national audience within the ski industry.
In addition, Kevin remains involved with the Training and Certification Advisory Board and the Ski Lift Advisory Council, working closely with the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) and the OSRA as well as sitting on the CSA Z98 Technical Committee. Kevin has also been an instructor for ski lift mechanic certification and presented material on the BC Passenger Ropeway Mechanic Course, TSSA act and regulation, and the CSAZ-98 code.
Kevin lives on the shores of Georgian Bay with his wife and their two boys. The Nichol family stays busy in the winter skiing and snowboarding (of course) and in the summers boating and swimming.
